Enquiry-to-member checker for gyms and studios
Most gyms don't need more enquiries. They need more of the ones they get to join. See where people drop out, and which step to fix first.
How the checker works
Each step is a share of the one before: how many enquiries booked, how many who booked turned up, and how many who turned up joined.
The checker compares your booking and joining rates with the typical gym for your type of training, and your turn-up rate with a target of 80%. It picks the step where you're furthest behind. That's usually where the quickest gains are.
- Booking: the typical gym books about a third of its enquiries.
- Turning up: at least eight in ten people who book should turn up. That's the target I use with clients.
- Joining: the typical gym signs up about six in ten of the people it meets.
- Reply speed: the fastest gyms reply within the hour. About one in seven don't call new enquiries at all.
The booking, joining and reply-speed figures come from the Two-Brain Business State of the Industry report (opens in a new tab), with data from thousands of coaching gyms. They're medians: half of gyms do better, half do worse.
Small numbers swing a lot from month to month. If last month was quiet, add up the last three months instead.
Figures are estimates to help you plan, not financial advice. Nothing you enter is saved or sent anywhere.
