What a year 2020 was, eh! One that will live long in the memory. One that will be etched in the history books and reflected on for the rest of eternity!
GOOD RIDDANCE 2020 - don't let the door hit you on the way out!
Good riddance to arguably the worst and most painful year in recent memory. What a train wreck of a year!
Honestly, thank god it’s over.
But what next?
How will your business survive in 2021?
Unfortunately, we’re not out of the woods. Covid is still here. It’s still spreading. And here is the UK we enter yet another lockdown and these lockdowns will probably stick around for another few months at least.
Even speaking about it makes me depressed.
The negativity that’s out there at the moment is overwhelming, to say the least. But you must avoid it.
Avoid it like the plague that it is.
The virus of negativity can be just as debilitating as the virus itself if you allow it in.
But the important thing to remember is that you have a CHOICE. A choice about what you let into your head and what you don’t.
Build a proverbial dam in your ears to block the negativity. A Black Gate of Mordor (reference for all you Lord of the Rings geeks), a Fort Knox barrier that makes your ears impenetrable against useless and harmful negativity.
These are keys to ensuring that your business will survive.
You don’t need to know how many new Covid cases there are today or how many deaths. You don’t need to know about the fine print in the Brexit deal.
And you definitely don’t need to know about every last detail on the news.
Because news flash . . . the news is overwhelmingly NEGATIVE.
Stay positive. Stay motivated. Stay hungry.
The Problem:
It seems clear to me that we have weak leadership in this country. Weak leaders who appear to be in the habit of saying one thing and then doing the exact opposite. Consistency between word and deed is a major factor in successful leadership, and part of being a leader is knowing that people are watching you at every step and taking their cues from your behaviour.
The Solution:
As I said above, the key I believe is to...
Stay positive. Stay motivated. Stay hungry.
Mindset is arguably the most important factor that determines business success. These times are a test to yours, but a test that I know you’ll pass with flying colours.
There will be plenty of naysayers, plenty of whingers and plenty of negative souls. Block them out. Whatever they say, let it go in one ear and out the other.
They’ll tell you that you can’t be successful because of “lockdowns”, because of “Brexit or covid”, because of the “government or Boris”.
Because of this, that, and everything under the sun. If you look hard enough you could find a shopping list of reasons about why “you can’t succeed in 2021”.
But you don’t do that.
You understand that the overarching factor that determines success is YOU and not any external circumstances.
You can control yourself but not Covid or Brexit, so why focus on things that you can’t control? It’s useless and futile.
You WILL BE successful in 2021.
Your business WILL survive.
Your business WILL thrive!
Your business WILL have its most prosperous year yet.
Why?
Because you said so. You made that decision and it’s final.
Come hell or high water your business will be successful in 2021. And that’s just the way it is.
You’ve made that CHOICE, and that’s that.
So, buckle up, get your game face on and work your plan.
